Salmiya Post office is finally renovated and main entrance is open now

From quite a long time the main entrance to Salmiya post office was locked, finally it's open.
It's an MOC office  were telephone bills are paid and parcels needs to be collected, behind Salmiya main co-operative and near to Geant Easy

As the Airport Taxi prices are increased exhorbitantly, its wise to arrange a transport guy or friend to pickup from Airport. Due to monopoly of Beidoun Airport Taxi operators, local taxi guys aren't allowed to pickup passengers arriving in Kuwait.

Tip: As the flight lands call your contact and ask them to park the car in parking lot and then meet them in arrival lounge.

This will easily save Kd 4 to 5 dinars if you are staying in  Khaitan, Abbasiya, Jleeb, Hasawi, Salmiya and Hawalli.

Root Canal Treatment in Salmiya Clinic ( Government )

This is my personal experience and many might have still better experience or bad.

Last Friday, while visiting Friday market, I suddenly felt spasm of pain in my jaw and I thought my wisdom tooth had given up.

On Sunday morning around 9:30am I went to Salmiya clinic on 1st floor couldn't find anyone at reception around 25 patients  were sitting in lounge. Enquired with x-ray technician and asked me to go and get a token from Room No.2, and she gave me a token after handing over her KD 1 stamp.

My turn came at 12pm ( it was tough to sit patiently) and luckily my doctor was an arab lady, who could speak english. She did a visual check and couldn't find any thing wrong and she referred me to get an X-ray done. After checking x-ray, she said it needs root canal treatment and for this you will have to come multiple times, I agreed as i didn't have any choice.

On the same day after giving injection she started the treatment of cleaning the pulp, she prescribed Anti-biotics and pain killer and  asked me to come again anytime with the x-ray for further procedure for scaling of teeths ( cleaning of gums ) and to fill up a small cavity.

For two day I couldn't make it luckily on Wednesday afternoon i went to clinic again around 2:45pm and I asked for same Doctor and luckily found her. My turn came at 5pm.

After finishing the procedure she asked me to come tomorrow morning for Root canal therapy. Every thursday morning Endodontist visits the clinics and previews the xrays and gives another date. I just tried to reach before 7am and found around 50 people outside the gate and almost all of the came for root canal treatment.

My turn came around 9am and within 2 mins they gave me another appointment. If you are getting good salary in Kuwait then I would definetly recommend  to get this treatment in private dental clinic like ( Bayan, Dentalspa, etc)

Will update at later date.

One thing I can say the Doctors are really trying to do a good job, just that the administrative staff needs better training in their job and little politeness in their nature.

Bye Bye Credit Cards and say Welcome to Prepaid Cards

In Kuwait Credit card charges are quite high and a yearly subscription cost is around KD 30/- for MasterCard and about KD 35/- for Visa and pay hefty interest rate.

The solution is prepaid credit cards and it cost yearly only KD 5/-. Whenever you plan to use it, just login, add the amount in your card from your account and I find it more safer and more cheaper.

Why safer, in wake of so many credit card scams, we will not be duped.


Update: Current local banks Internet prepaid Visa card annual fees is Ten KD.

According to PACI - There is no last date or penalty for Expats, they can get there smartcard id whenever they renew their residence (Iqama).

Car passing in Kuwait is a smooth process for new model car owners. If you buy a new car there is no need of Car passing for three years.

Checklist of major things the Car Passing Inspectors checks
1) Smoke - Black / White, make sure you don't have any type of smoke.
2) Color - Colour of Car - specially bumpers & roof.
3) Lights - Brake lights, Headlights & signal lights
4) WindScreen - Crack free
5) Tinted Glass & Stickers - Remove them if you are an expat.  Kuwaiti's are exceptional :)

The best time for Expats is to get it checked @ 4pm in any of the muroors, as for expats they don't process your papers in morning. The best Muroor is Subhan & the worst is Jabriya & Shuwaikh.

Kuwaiti's can complete their paper processing at Citizen Service Office loacted at many places in Kuwait.

After they passed the car, make sure you pay any traffic violations through internet for less headache. Incase you don't have Internet access & have to process your papers in Maidan Hawally (the cashier is missing most of the time), you will be at the mercy of  a Kiosk by enet, operated by a heavily face powdered filipino for a charge of .250Fils and you need to provide your own Knet card.

Then Finally your Daftar ( Car registration paper) will be recieved and relax for one year.
